A large scale dining for BOs studio

Bryan O'Sullivan Studio commissioned Roads2Joya to develop, fabricate, and upholster bespoke banquette seating and dining chairs for a residential project in Chelsea. Spanning almost seven metres, the banquette presented a significant technical challenge, requiring the entire piece to be designed for flat-pack installation while maintaining the appearance of a continuous, seamless form once assembled.

Working in collaboration with ACollectionOf, Roads2Joya developed the frame construction to meet both the structural and installation requirements of the project. The fabricated frame was finished in a specialist automotive enamel before being upholstered to achieve the designer's intended aesthetic, while ensuring the finished seating delivered exceptional comfort and durability.

Future rooms at the museum of the home, London

IRS ( ) and Northumbria University commissioned Roads2Joya to realise the Future Home Sofa for the permanent collection at the Museum of the Home, London. Conceived as an exploration of future urban living, the design embodied ideas of itinerant lifestyles through a modular seating system that could be reconfigured to suit different spaces and ways of living.

While the concept appeared visually simple, its construction demanded a highly considered upholstery approach. The individual cushions were secured to the frame using exposed belting, requiring each upholstered section to be carefully developed with precise recessed channels. Every indentation had to accommodate the belting perfectly, allowing it to sit securely without distorting the upholstery or compromising the clean, sculptural form of the piece.

Working closely with the project team, Roads2Joya translated the original concept into a fully realised piece, balancing innovative construction techniques with the craftsmanship and precision required for a museum-quality installation.

Mark commissioned Roads2Joya to develop, fabricate, and install bespoke banquette seating for his new restaurant in Islington. The brief centred on creating a distinctive seating scheme that reflected the identity of the original restaurant while meeting the practical demands of a busy hospitality environment.

Working in collaboration with ACollectionOf, Roads2Joya helped develop the visual concept, sourcing upholstery materials that balanced durability, cost, and brand identity. A key challenge lay in the building itself. As the property is Grade II listed, the fifteen-metre banquette could not be fixed to the existing structure and instead had to be engineered as a completely freestanding installation without compromising its appearance or performance.

Through careful fabrication and considered upholstery, the finished seating delivers a seamless visual presence while meeting the structural and functional requirements of a high-traffic restaurant environment.
